HOTEL IL MULINO is located in Villalunga di Casalgrande, just 2 km from Sassuolo, 8 km from Scandiano and Formigine,
Villalunga has ancient historical roots
With it and its mills, which in ancient times (reliable historical sources already mention existing mills in 1230) were powered by waterways granted by the Lords Pio da Carpi, used for grinding cereals and processing textiles.
These waterways were the same ones where the Secchia flows today, a fundamental element for the development of the area.
The inhabitants of the surrounding hills and mountains moved to this territory precisely because of its strong agricultural and productive vocation, and were initially nicknamed “gypsies.”
It seems that an important mill once stood near the present-day hotel, which is why we wanted to pay tribute to it.
